JJ Redick Interviews for Hornets Head Coaching Job

Hornets Interview Former NBA Guard for Head Coach Role

Redick Among Candidates for Charlotte's Vacancy

The Charlotte Hornets are reportedly interviewing former NBA guard JJ Redick for their vacant head coaching position. The news was first reported by NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Redick, 38, retired from playing in 2021 after a 15-season NBA career. He was known as a sharpshooting guard, averaging 12.8 points per game and shooting 41.5% from three-point range.

Since retiring, Redick has worked as an analyst for ESPN and The Ringer. He has also shown interest in coaching in the past, having previously expressed a desire to coach his son's AAU team.

The Hornets are searching for a new head coach after firing James Borrego at the end of the 2021-22 season. The team finished with a 43-39 record under Borrego, missing the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

Redick would be a unique candidate for the Hornets job, given his lack of coaching experience. However, his basketball IQ and leadership qualities could make him an intriguing option for Charlotte.

The Hornets are expected to interview several other candidates for their head coaching vacancy, including former NBA head coaches Kenny Atkinson and Mike D'Antoni.
